When it comes to successful product launches and business practices, there are two important pieces of information that cannot be overlooked.
 1.    Women spend more time on social networks than men
 2.    Women make 80% of buying decisions
A
number of recent surveys have shown that more women use social media
more often than men. Although the percentages vary based on the survey,
the continuous outcome is that women are more avid users of social
networks. This information is important to marketers and businesses
alike in order to gear promotions towards the right audience.
Female
bloggers, or “mommy bloggers” as some are often referred to, receive a
good amount of traffic on the web. These bloggers usually review
products and are trusted sources of information for the audiences that
read them. Although their nickname brings to mind diapers and strollers,
many of these bloggers cover a range of topics that move beyond
parental duties.  The opinions and facts presented by these bloggers
resonate strongly within their loyal community and have helped make
successful launches. The same community often engages in discussions
about the products and is willing to share that information with their
social networks. Reaching out to these communities help build
credibility which will then translate into loyal customers.
Women are also the decision makers the
majority of the time when it comes to purchasing decisions. Not only do
they make choices regarding their own products, but the products of
those they take care of – think children, family, etc.
For a
company with a new product launch, social networks are an important
aspect of your marketing strategy. In 2011, Microsoft promoted their
launch of Office 365 to executive women on social media. The results were
 hugely successful and at less of a cost than their average launches;
the campaign brought more than four times the regular amount of social
sharing and garnered a lower average cost for the company. When a
business engages users for information and finds ways to include them in
the launch of the product, the results will be very successful.
