Ellen DeGeneres Honored With Mark Twain Humor AwardComedienne and television host Ellen DeGeneres was honored on Monday night with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. She received the top prize at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Those who receive this award are those artists who have made a significant contribution to the world of American comedy.
Previously, Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has said that he would cut funding
to PBS, so she used that as a pun in her commentary. It was the same
night as the final Presidential debate, so it was a timely joke. She
said, “Thanks to everyone at PBS. I’m so glad to part of your farewell
season. This is wonderful.”
