Join a team. Without players, a team is nothing. It never hurts to broaden your horizons by trying different things. Another thing I like to generally tell people about Lacrosse is that it is a huge world made ever-smaller through people who help make things happen. I have learned many life lessons through this sport, and believe it or not, you can get much more out of this than just a good time and a body that is in shape.
Sign your kid up for a team. It never hurts being a parent of an athlete! Your child will enjoy being part of a growing sport rich in history.
Support a team. Any team would be impossible without the behind the scenes events going on. Not only are parents important in the sport’s scene, but booster clubs, field owners, sponsors, and tons of other people are involved with the team process.
Coach a team. If you know anything about Lacrosse and there are youth leagues around, you may want to get involved. Even if you start at a young level as an assistant coach, you are still helping out and you will eventually climb up the ranks over the years. Coaching is extremely fun, there is SO MUCH opportunity for these players and you can help shape their lives so much.
Referee games. If you take a refereeing course for any sport, you will learn everything about the rules. If you are a parent who just wants to learn the rules, you can purchase a Lacrosse rulebook, or you could go the extra mile to take the course. I love refereeing games, it is SO much fun. Not to mention you get paid quite a bit.
So whether you are a mother, father, grandparent, or kid, there is a way you can get involved.
